A flavorful, fizzy concoction with homemade simple syrup
Cold brew tonics are making a fizzy splash. They’re like the sophisticated, modern version of the old-fashioned soda fountain drink. But instead of the egg cream’s milk and chocolate syrup, this cold brew tonic recipe features smooth, bold coffee and orange cardamom simple syrup. Learn how to make this recipe.
Ingredients
- Makes ½ cup, enough for 8 cold brew tonics
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon crushed cardamom
- Zest of 1 small orange
How to Make Cold Brew Orange Tonic
Step 1: Make cold brew by pouring filtered water over two Starbucks® Cold Brew Coffee Pitcher Packs.
Step 2: Let steep for 24 hours.
Step 3: Remove Pitcher Packs and add water.
Step 4: Make the orange cardamom simple syrup by combining water, juice, sugar, cardamom and orange zest in saucepan.
Step 5: Bring to a boil to dissolve sugar, then let cool.
Step 6: Strain out cardamom and orange zest.
Step 7: To make the cold brew tonic, fill a tall glass with ice.
Step 8: Pour in simple syrup, then add cold brew and tonic water.
Step 9: Stir and garnish with an orange slice.
Step 10: Serve and enjoy.
